New Ipswich Medical Centre Taking Shape
Plans to develop a new Medical Centre in Ipswich have taken significant steps forward in recent weeks with Apollo entering into legal agreements with the Local Authority to secure land for the development. West Villa is a former Hostel and was vacated by Ipswich Borough Council in early June.
The Apollo team in conjunction with Ipswich based KLH Architects have also lodged a planning application for the development and it is anticipated that a decision will be made by the Local Authority Planning Department in September.
The proposals will seek to provide the Lattice Barn and Woodbridge Road Practices with state of the art facilities allowing the Practices to provide a mixture of services to over 25,000 patients. The new facility will include clinical spaces that include consulting, treatment and minor operations rooms. There will also be GP training facilities and seminar spaces, together with an integrated pharmacy. The building will be designed to achieve a BREEAM rating of Excellent.
Development lead for Apollo Stuart Clarke commented, “The project team are absolutely delighted with the recent progress made and we look forward to delivering what will be a significant healthcare facility serving the local community within north east Ipswich and the surrounding areas”.
Apollo will invest over £6m in the delivery of the new facility and it is anticipated that once a planning consent is obtained for the development proposals, construction will commence in early 2015 with completion expected in spring 2016.
