Moving Ahead with Mold Primary Care Centre

19th August 2010 0

At the end of last year the Welsh Assembly Government gave approval for a new Primary Care Centre in Mold, and the detail planning application has now been approved by Flintshire County Council.

The new 2 storey building is to be developed on a redundant council owned site in the town centre, sited between New Street car park and Glanrafon Road. The building will be 1100m2 and be the new home for 2 GP practices in Mold who will relocate from their existing surgeries. The Grosvenor Street Practice and the Bradley Practice will share the building and offer services to over 8,000 patients, together with staff from the Health Board (Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board). In addition to consulting and treatment rooms there will be a minor operations room and a multi function room suitable for larger group meetings and clinics.

The building has built in expansion space to cope with the growing demands for health care and the expanding local population over the coming years. The building has been carefully designed to reflect the local environment and the Listed buildings adjacent. Access will be via New Street car park with the building having its own 35 car parking spaces in addition to a patient drop off layby.

Building works should commence later this year with the new facility operating and serving the local community by the autumn 2011.
