Green Light for a New Medical Centre in Ipswich
Apollo Capital Projects Development Ltd and their development partners, the Lattice Barn and Woodbridge Road Practices in Ipswich, have recently received funding support by NHS England for a new state of the art medical centre serving the Ipswich community.
The new medical centre will be developed on the West Villa site in North East Ipswich, the site is currently owned by Ipswich Borough Council. The facility will serve the Practices combined patient list of approximately 25,000 patients and will be in the order of 2,200sqm and will provide a mix of accommodation including consultation and treatment suites, a minor operations suite and GP training facilities. The new development will also include an on-site pharmacy.
Development Lead Stuart Clarke commented “This is a fantastic achievement collectively for the Practices and Apollo as this project is one of a small number of primary care developments within the region and nationally that have been prioritised and gained funding support by NHS England. The Practices existing surgeries are woefully inadequate and are no longer fit for purpose with both Practices having outgrown their premises a number of years ago. We are delighted that after 5 years of working in partnership with the Practices that all of our efforts have finally paid off and we have been given the green light to progress with the development. This really is exciting news for all involved with the scheme and we look forward to developing what will be an important community facility for the town of Ipswich”
Apollo, in conjunction with the Practices, will be working on the detailed designs for the new facility over the coming weeks and it is anticipated that discussions with the local Planning Authority will commence shortly, paving the way for a planning application to be lodged for the proposals during the summer.
