Clydach Primary Care Centre, Swansea
Apollo Capital Projects was appointed by Swansea LHB and the Practice to provide a new integrated Primary Care Centre for Clydach. A site was identified in the centre of the community and Apollo took the project through a rigorous design process including AEDET, NEAT, Design Commission and Planning.The scheme was given Welsh Assembly Approval and was the first to go through the Design for Life process.
This new 2 storey building extending to 1,700 sqm is of contemporary design while using local materials. The Cwm Nant Lleici Stone on the elevations was quarried only 3 miles away in Pontardawe and the art work internally was made by the local school children and an artist from Pembrokeshire. The project took 34 months from inception to completion with construction taking 10 months. Clydach Primary Care Centre was opened to the public in April 2009.

Result
I have monitored a series of new primary care centres over the last few years in south Wales and I will say that this is by far the best.
